Warren County Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges Following Investigation

Published

on

A local man, Daniel Lee Bowers II, 52, of Limeton, Virginia, faces multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography after an investigation led by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO). The investigation began following cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that flagged an online account suspected of sharing explicit material involving minors.

Daniel L. Bowers II, Front Royal, VA – Charges: § 18.2-374.1:1 Possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography; (X9) 18.2-361.01 Possession & distribution of obscene material regarding animals and persons

After a thorough investigation, detectives identified Bowers as the individual behind the flagged account. On October 29, 2024, WCSO’s Special Operations Team executed a search warrant at Bowers’ residence on the 5000 block of Stonewall Jackson Highway in Front Royal, Virginia. Bowers was taken into custody without incident and initially transported to the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren (RSW) Regional Jail. He was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond during a preliminary appearance before a magistrate.

However, the investigation continued as authorities conducted a deeper analysis of electronic devices seized during the search. Based on evidence discovered in these devices, additional charges of possession of child pornography were filed. On October 30, 2024, Bowers was re-arrested and returned to RSW Regional Jail. This time, the magistrate ordered him held without bond, given the additional charges and the seriousness of the allegations. Bowers’ next court appearance is scheduled for November 14, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, an active member of the Northern Virginia/DC Metro (NOVA/DC) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, coordinated by the Virginia State Police, worked closely with NCMEC on this case. The NOVA/DC ICAC Task Force collaborates with local agencies to combat child exploitation and other online crimes against minors. WCSO encourages anyone with information related to this case or information on the possession, distribution, or solicitation of child pornography to reach out to their office. Sergeant M. R. Ramey from WCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division can be contacted at (540) 635-7100 or via email at mramey@warrencountysheriff.org.

The community remains a crucial partner in the fight against child exploitation, and law enforcement urges vigilance. Tips from concerned citizens often lead to significant breakthroughs in cases involving crimes against children.
