Madison Eavey of Luray, VA, and Bayleigh Jones of Strasburg, VA, made their communities proud as they competed in the prestigious 2024 USSSA National All-State Championship Fastpitch Softball Tournament. Representing the 14U age bracket, the two were among just seven players from Virginia to be selected for this elite event held at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, FL, from December 28 to December 31, 2024.

Madison and Bayleigh are standout players for the Front Royal Fire 14U Class B Fastpitch Travel Softball team, coached by Dani Jones and Assistant Coaches Glenn Murphy, Isaac Eavey, and Jeremy Mitchell. Their selection highlights not only their skill but also their dedication to the sport.

A Spotlight on the Players

Madison Eavey, a freshman at Luray High School, is a versatile utility player who particularly shines as a pitcher. She balances her time on the diamond with basketball, showcasing her athleticism as a member of the Luray Bulldogs. “Playing softball at this level has been such an amazing experience,” Madison shared.

Bayleigh Jones, an eighth-grader at Skyline Middle School, is equally talented, primarily playing as a catcher but excelling in other positions when needed. Like her teammate, Bayleigh is a multi-sport athlete, participating in volleyball and basketball for the Skyline Hawks. “Getting the chance to play with and against such great players has been incredible,” she said.

A Path to Excellence

The journey to the national tournament began with regional tournaments, where outstanding players are nominated by their coaches. Selected athletes are invited to compete nationally, representing their teams, communities, and state.

Madison and Bayleigh stood out among their peers for their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. Both girls donned Virginia jerseys during the tournament and proudly displayed their championship rings after competing against some of the country’s best players.

“This was such an honor for both Madison and Bayleigh,” said Head Coach Dani Jones. “Their hard work and love for the game brought them to this level, and we’re all so proud of what they’ve accomplished.”

Community Pride

The tournament was more than just a competition for these athletes. It was an opportunity to showcase the talent and dedication of young players from small communities. Both Madison and Bayleigh expressed gratitude for the support of their teammates, coaches, and families, which helped them reach this milestone.
