Sewing 201 – St. Patrick’s Quilted Wall Hanging (2 part program)
Wednesday, March 4th and 11th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
In person. Registration Required.
2 Part Series held on Wednesday March 4th and March 11, 5:00-6:30pm. Registration will enroll attendee in both classes. This class will show you some easy techniques for creating a fun and versatile quilted wall hanging in the theme of St. Patrick’s Day. Please note, this class is designed for those with basic sewing experience.
*Must have completed Sewing 101 or have a basic working knowledge of using a sewing machine. Supplies and materials provided.
Studio 330 Craft Swap
Saturday, March 7th from 10:00 AM* to 2:00 PM

Craft Swap – 2nd Annual Craft Swap: Refresh your Craft Stash with new finds. Join us for our 2nd Annual Craft Swap. We’ve been collecting craft supply donations all February, and now it’s time to share the crafting creativity!
- 10AM – 12PM: Early access with a ticket for those who donated in February.
- 12PM- 2PM: Open to everyone – come shop our stash for free! (While supplies last)
Discover a variety of crafting supplies and find creativity for your next project. Stop in Studio 330 to check out all our equipment, put your creative inspiration to work, and pick up a few supplies while you are here!
Seniors First Workshop: Medicare and Other Coverage: How They Work Together

Seniors First Counselling
Thursday, March 12th from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM (20-minute sessions)

Sign up to meet with Seniors First for one-on-one assistance to navigate Medicare, review coverage options, and identify programs that can help lower healthcare costs. Contact the Adult Reference Department at 540-635-3153 ext. 105 to sign up for an available timeslot for one-on-one counselling.
Writing Workshop- Improve Communication Skills
Thursday March 19th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Join us along with Dr. Dan Trigoboff for a writing workshop aimed toward improving communication skills. Registration Required.
Dan Trigoboff is an award-winning writer, editor and college professor with more than 50 years experience in media and academia. A New Yorker, he began his career while earning a bachelor’s degree at Boston University and continued to work in New England as a news and sports reporter. He later taught at Methodist University, and at North Carolina State University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media. Dr. Trigoboff’s academic work has been presented at several universities and conferences, and in numerous books. He retired as professor emeritus at St. Augustine’s University in 2024.
Sewing 201: Hemming
Wednesday, March 25th 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
In Person. Registration Required.
Have the basics of sewing under your belt? This workshop will introduce you to hemming using a sewing machine. Bring your project to learn basic hemming techniques for pants, skirts, or other hemmed material.
*Must have completed Sewing 101 or have a basic working knowledge of using a sewing machine.
Sublimation 101
Thursday, March 26th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
In Person. Registration Required.
Learn the basics of sublimation printing and create a custom item to take home. This hands-on class covers how sublimation works, what materials are compatible, and how to prepare and heat-press a design. Bring a photo or image on a removable flash drive or use one of our pre-formatted designs. Beginners welcome. All supplies provided.
*No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Short Film Screenings- “Building for Birds” and “Grass Roots”
Thursday, March 26th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
In Person.
Join us to view 2 short films about migratory birds and the conservation of biodiversity on local working land within the Shenandoah Valley. We will be joined by Director Sam LeGrys, Research Ecologist Brian Evens, and Virginia Grassland Bird Initiative (VGBI) Coordinator Justin Proctor, who will sit as a panel and discuss with program attendees.
- “Building for Birds”: Millions of birds pass through our yards during their bi-annual migrations, but they face an invisible killer along the way: glass windows. In the US alone, an estimated one billion birds die each year when they collide with windows. Now, two organizations help pave the way to a bird-friendly future.
- “Grass Roots”: “Grass Roots” is a short documentary featuring scientists from Smithsonian’s Virginia Working Landscapes and the local farms we collaborate with to study and conserve biodiversity on working lands.
Basic Machine Embroidery
Friday, March 27th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Registration Required. In person.
Get started with machine embroidery! Featuring our Brother® PE900 embroidery machine. Learn the basics of machine embroidery and create a simple monogram or one-color image on sample fabric.
*No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Bluebells, Wildflowers, and Wildlife Walk & Photography
Saturday, March 28th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM
Registration Required. In Person. NOTE: PROGRAM IS OFF-SITE
Join local photographer and educator Sharon Fisher for a photography workshop. This program takes place at Raymond R. “Andy” Guest, Jr. Shenandoah River State Park in Bentonville, Virginia.
We will meet outside the Visitor Center to review tips for photographing spring flowers and wildlife. After the introduction, we will explore selected areas of the park. Be prepared to encounter muddy areas.
All types of cameras—from smartphones to professional cameras—are welcome, and all experience levels are encouraged to attend. This program may include hikes of up to 2 miles on even terrain.
The park’s standard parking fee and rules apply. The library has a limited number of park passes available. This event is open to the public. Registration required.

Love and Logic: Parenting with Empathy Session 1
Every Thursday, March 12th to April 16th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
In Person. Registration Required. Sessions run for 6 weeks at a time.
Warren County Social Services partners with Samuels Public Library to present Love and Logic, equipping young people with character, compassion and problem solving skills.
Parents will gain practical and proven tools for raising respectful, responsible and happy kids.

Bad Romance

Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic? Are bad romances a guilty pleasure of yours? Then you should join us for Bad Romance, where Samuels Public Library will have a themed discussion for the romance genre every month. March’s theme is Fairytales!
Indulge us with your favorite romance books, movies, music or other media related to the topic, and possibly discover a new treat in this awesome informal discussion! New members are always welcome!

Studio 330: String Theory- A Fiber Arts Club

Welcome to a fiber arts community for experienced, novice, or first-time artists 13 and up looking to meet other artists, relax, and/or share their expertise! Bring your own knitting, crochet, weaving, or other project to Studio 330 on Saturdays 2pm to 4pm

Studio 330: Genealogy Club
Monday, March 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM
Second Monday of every month.
In Person: Interested in your family’s history? Already done extensive research and want to be able to share your finds? Join our genealogy club where both novices and experts alike can come together and talk about different genealogy topics.
March’s Topic: Finding Female Ancestors – In honor of Women’s History Month, this Genealogy Group session will focus on researching female ancestors. We’ll explore strategies for uncovering women’s identities across records, including name changes, migration through marriage, and locating women in sources where they are frequently hidden.
This program will highlight the library’s resource, The Hidden Half of the Family: A Sourcebook for Women’s Genealogy, and introduce practical research approaches that participants can apply immediately to their own family lines. Discussion and research time will follow. Drop-ins welcome.

Studio 330: Personal Archiving Series
Saturday, March 14th from 12:00 to 1:30 PM
Second Saturday of every month.
In Person: Discover practical, beginner-friendly ways to organize, preserve, and make accessible your photos, documents, videos, and memorabilia during our monthly Personal Archiving Series. Each month will feature a stand-alone topic including organizing photos, scanning and digitizing your media, and sharing your collections with family. Make sure to check our calendar for monthly features.
March’s Topic: You Say You Want a Resolution – Digitizing your photos and documents is an important first step, but knowing how to scan matters just as much as what you scan. This session explores image resolution in clear, practical terms so you can make confident choices when scanning personal collections. Learn the difference between DPI and file size, what settings are best for photos versus documents, and how to create digital files that are useful now and reliable for the future. Ideal for anyone actively scanning or preparing to digitize their materials.

Phoenix Project- Hope For New Beginnings

Serving all members of the Front Royal/Warren County community who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault, Phoenix Project Advocates are available to provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, safety planning, information, education, and more. Their services are free, confidential, and trauma-informed. Hope. Help. Healing.
Scary Words Book Club
