Studio 330: Sewing 201 – Pattern Reading

Wednesday, May 7th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM

In person. Already know how to sew but patterns still confuse you? Learn how to read pattern envelopes, sizing, and instructions so you can sew with confidence. Supplies and materials provided. (Must have completed Sewing 101 or have a basic working knowledge of using a sewing machine)

Make a Fairy Garden Wreath!

Saturday, May 10th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

In person. Love the cottagecore aesthetic? Join us to make a spring fairy garden wreath! Ages 13 & up. Registration required. *No food is allowed in the studio, and an adult must accompany patrons between 13-17.

Bookmark Crafting Competition

Thursday, May 15th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. Drop into Studio 330 and unleash your creativity for our Bookmark Crafting Competition! Use our materials to design a one-of-a-kind bookmark, and you could see your creation reprinted for our Summer Reading Program.

Trailblazing Women of Samuels Public Library

Thursday, May 15th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

In person. Join us for a presentation on how the women of Front Royal and Warren County led the way in creating the library we know and love today. Travel back in time to the 1920s when the Chester St. ladies banded together and then stayed the course through the Depression and World War II. Learn how their early vision for the library contributed to the award-winning Samuels Public Library of the 21st century.

Studio 330: Sewing 101 Parts 1 and 2

Wednesday, May 21st & 28th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM

In person. New to sewing? This two part workshop will introduce you to the very basics of using a sewing machine to create a simple project. Sessions will be held on May 21st & May 28th.

AIDS Response Effort, Inc. (ARE) Free STI Testing

Thursday, May 22nd from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. Winchester’s AIDS Response Effort, Inc. (ARE) will be at the library on  May 22, July 16, and October 22 of 2025 to provide free STI testing for the community. 1 in 5 people in the U.S.A. has an STI.


Ongoing Programs

General Education Development (GED) Class

Every Tuesday & Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

In person. Samuels Public Library is proud to host Laurel Ridge Community College’s General Education Development course. This course is completely free. Let this course be the stepping stone to your success. More information on registration dates and deadlines can be found on the LRCC website – https://laurelridge.edu/adult-education  *The final session for GED Class will be May 22nd.

What the Tech!

Every Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

In person. Need help with technology? Come by the library’s Meeting Room B where we will be going over computers and other technology basics. Having trouble with your phone, tablet, laptop, or other device? Bring it in, and we’ll help!

Writing For Pleasure- A generative, multi genre, drop in writing workshop

Every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. We all have voices to share. Explore your creative writing voice in this drop in workshop. This workshop is open to all levels of writing expertise. It’s a no red pen environment, meaning that you will only receive constructive criticism if asked. We are writing for our own pleasure after all. Each week we will read materials together that help us with the writing prompt and spend time in a welcoming, comfortable, small group environment.

Studio 330: Embroidery Club

Every Thursday from 10:00 PM to 12:00 PM

In person. Join us for Hand Embroidery Stitchers every Thursday morning! Bring your own needlework project to work on for a morning of crafting and socializing.

Studio 330 Walk-in Hours

Every Thursday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. Come tour Studio 330 or bring your project to work on. Walk-In hours are provided on a first come, first serve basis.*Glowforge is not available during walk-in hours. No food is allowed in the studio, and an adult must accompany patrons between 13-17.

Studio 330: String Theory- A Fiber Arts Club

Every Saturday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. Welcome to a fiber arts community for experienced, novice, or first-time artists 13 and up looking to meet other artists, relax, and/or share their expertise! Bring your own knitting, crochet, weaving, or other project to Studio 330 on Saturdays 2pm to 4pm *No food is allowed in the studio, and an adult must accompany patrons between 13-17.

Scary Words Book Club

Saturday, May 3rd from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

First Saturday of every month.

In person. A horror book club for people who should be afraid of the dark. May’s titles: “Meddling Kids” by Edgar Cantero and “Still Life with Bones: Genocide, Forensics, and What Remains” by Alexa Haggerty.

Bad Romance

Wednesday, May 7th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

First Wednesday of every month.

In person. Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic?  Are bad romances a guilty pleasure of yours? Then you should join us for Bad Romance, where Samuels Public Library will have a themed discussion for the romance genre every month. The theme for the month of May is Feminine Rage! Indulge us with your favorite romance books, movies, music or other media related to the topic, and possibly discover a new treat in this awesome informal discussion! New members are always welcome!

Books & Beyond/Genealogy Club

Wednesday, May 14th from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM

In person. Do you love books and sharing them as much as we do? How about genealogy? Well join us for a joint session & let’s dive into new worlds of conversation about genealogy-themed books!

Phoenix Project – Hope for New Beginnings

Tuesday, May 20th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Third Tuesday of every month.

In person. Serving all members of the Front Royal/Warren County community who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault, Phoenix Project Advocates are available to provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, safety planning, information, education, and more. Their services are free, confidential, and trauma-informed. Hope. Help. Healing.
