Stephens City UMC Hosts Annual Trunk-or-Treat with Candy, Games, and Family Fun

Published

Stephens City United Methodist Church is gearing up for its annual Trunk-or-Treat, a major fall event that brings families together for a fun-filled Halloween celebration. Scheduled for Saturday, October 26th, this event is expected to draw around 500 people to the church’s back parking lot at 5291 Main Street, where a dozen vehicles with decorated trunks will hand out candy.

In addition to the candy giveaway, there will be games, prizes, face painting, and photo ops for kids and families to enjoy. A costume parade at 1 p.m. welcomes participants of all ages and encourages creative and family-friendly costumes. Volunteers will manage traffic flow and ensure a safe, designated walking area for families.

Jacquetta Owen, the event organizer and president of Stephens City UMC, emphasized the importance of providing a safe and fun space for children and teens to celebrate Halloween. “This event is all about growing community and giving families a safe, festive venue for kids to dress up and collect treats,” Owen said. “It’s such a joy to see everyone having fun and creating lasting memories together.”

For families who live in areas that may not be conducive to traditional trick-or-treating, this event offers an accessible, supervised alternative. Stephens City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department’s Sparky, the Fire Dog, will be on hand for photos, and Lolo, the Clown from Winchester, will entertain kids with her playful antics. Pastor Bertina Westley will be present to welcome families and share information about the church’s many ministries, including their Easter Egg Hunt, food pantry, and Vacation Bible School.
