Voting brings in first-time and long-time voters in Warren County

Local family consists of first time voter, 27, his aunt, and cousin,12, a Kid Votes voter.
The Polls across the Commonwealth are reporting brisk voter turnout, but workers are in full force and Front Royal and Warren County voters don’t seem to mind the relatively short wait facing them. Some Warren County residents turning out to vote at the Government Center on Commerce Avenue in Front Royal were first-time voters. We caught up with Justin Figgins, 27, who showed up to vote with his aunt, Jennifer Thompson and his cousin, 12-year-old Taylor Thompson, a student at Warren County Middle School.
Figgins said that he hadn’t felt compelled to vote until this election. “Trump scared me…the fear of Trump
made me vote,” he confessed as his aunt and niece looked on. Figgins said he was an Independent voter, not affiliated with either major political party. His aunt said she was delighted that Figgins came out o exercise his right to vote. She also brought along Taylor to vote in the Kids Voting USA project, which allows students to cast ballots and to get an “I voted” sticker upon exiting.
Meanwhile, long-time voter and Warren County resident Viola Green rested on a bench in the Warren County Government Center. While waiting for her friend to finish casting a ballot, she paused to reflect on her many years of voting in Presidential elections. “I’m glad I came out to vote, and I’m glad the campaign is over!”

Viola Green, a Warren County resident, says she is glad she voted and also glad the campaign is over.
It’s safe to say that Ms. Green’s assessment of the election season is one echoed the nation–if not the world–over.
Polls in Virginia remain open until 7 p.m. this evening.
