Following Multi-County Vehicle Pursuit One Wanted Suspect Still on the Loose
On August 4, 2025, at approximately 04:40 am the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) was notified that Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) was in pursuit of a red pickup truck traveling North on Zachary Taylor Highway at a high rate of speed. After observing the suspect vehicle refusing to stop for RCSO deputies, Warren County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit as it entered Warren County in the Chester Gap area.
Within 3 minutes of the suspect vehicle entering Warren County, deflation devices were successfully deployed, and the suspect vehicle continued into the Town of Front Royal. The suspect vehicle came to a stop in the 800 block of North Commerce Ave. The driver and passenger both ran from the truck on foot.

After short foot pursuit, the passenger, Marquan Williams, 29 years old, of Ohio, was apprehended near Happy Creek, adjacent to Fantasyland Park. The driver connued to run into the wooded area near the park. An emergency message was sent through the RAVE® system to area residents to shelter in place.

Despite swift assistance from Fairfax County Police Aviation Unit and WCSO bloodhound team, the driver was not apprehended.
The driver has been identified as Joshua Shayne Paterson, 28 years old, of Ohio. He is described as a black male, 6’00”, 219 pounds, with black dreadlocks and possible blonde tips and brown eyes.

Joshua Paterson – Still Wanted
Paterson is facing 5 felony charges and 1 misdemeanor from Albermarle County Police Department, and charges in other jurisdictions.
At the jail, Williams was served an outstanding warrant from Albermarle County. He is also facing several charges in other jurisdictions.
