3rd Annual Suicide Prevention Ride Brings Hope and Awareness to Front Royal

Published

on

The 3rd Annual Suicide Prevention Ride and Awareness Event will take place on September 21, 2024. It aims to bring the community together in support of mental health and suicide prevention. Organized by Northwestern Community Services Board’s Prevention and Wellness Services, the event begins and ends at the Front Royal Moose Lodge, located at 1340 John Marshall Hwy, Front Royal, VA.

Riders will start gathering at 9:00 a.m. for registration, with the motorcycle ride kicking off at 10:00 a.m. Registration is $20 per rider, and all proceeds will benefit Concern Hotline, a local 24/7 crisis hotline providing vital support to those in need. Riders can register for the event at Humanitix, and corporate sponsorships are also available for those interested in supporting this important cause.

The event is not only for riders. The community is invited to join the resource fair at the Moose Lodge, which runs until 1:00 p.m. Visitors can participate in activities, like adding messages of encouragement or sharing memories of loved ones on the Hope Wall, a poignant tribute to those affected by suicide.

Shannon Urum, Prevention and Wellness Services Coordinator, explained the significance of the event, saying, “This event is about bringing the community together to support those who have lost loved ones to suicide and to provide hope and resources to those who are struggling or in crisis.” She added, “Every year, we are filled with gratitude for the organizations and individuals who join forces with us to make this a successful event.”

The first 50 registered riders will receive a complimentary t-shirt, and the Women of the Front Royal Moose Lodge will provide a meal for all participants who complete the ride. This year’s ride aims to raise funds and foster a sense of community, awareness, and hope.
