Festive Cupcakes That Steal the Show This Holiday Season

Published

on

Looking for a fun and festive treat to wow your guests this Christmas? These holiday cupcakes are as beautiful as they are delicious—perfect for parties, dessert tables, or even gifting to neighbors and teachers.

Topped with fluffy whipped cream and decorated with vibrant cranberries and rosemary sprigs that resemble holly, these cupcakes bring a touch of elegance to any holiday gathering. The recipe is easy enough for beginner bakers and a great activity to enjoy with kids during winter break.

Festive Holiday Cupcakes

Makes: 12 cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups flour

  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided

  • 2 eggs, at room temperature

  • ¾ cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons white sugar

  • 2 cups 35% heavy whipping cream

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries

  • A few sprigs of fresh rosemary

Instructions:

1. Prepare the batter:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a muffin tin with 12 paper liners. In one bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another, cream the butter and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and beat in the eggs, one at a time.

2. Combine and fill:
Add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture in alternating additions, mixing until just combined. Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.

3. Bake and cool:
Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool completely before decorating.

4. Make the topping:
In a cold mixing bowl, whip the cream with the white sugar and the remaining teaspoon of vanilla until stiff peaks form.

5. Decorate:
Top each cupcake with a swirl of whipped cream, a few fresh cranberries, and a small rosemary sprig to mimic festive holly leaves.

Holiday Tip:
For a sparkling touch, roll the cranberries and rosemary in sugar before topping the cupcakes—this adds a frosty, snow-dusted look perfect for Christmas Eve.

Whether served after dinner, brought to a potluck, or left out for Santa, these cupcakes are a merry way to spread holiday cheer. They also make a great edible craft project for kids or family gatherings.
