Downtown Front Royal Celebrates Launch of New Farmers Market

Published

on

Early Sunday morning, Front Royal welcomed a vibrant addition to its downtown area with the inauguration of the new Farm to Market on Main, a dedicated farmers market to revitalize the local community and boost the economy. The Front Royal/Warren County Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in the scenic gazebo area along Main Street, marked the beginning of what promises to be a central community gathering place.

Mayor Lori Cockrell, alongside members of Downtown Front Royal, Inc. (DFRi) and numerous residents, celebrated the return of the farmers market to the downtown Gazebo Village Commons area—a sentiment echoed by many locals over the years. The market will operate on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, from May through October, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

DFRi board members Danielle Haase and Jodi Wintrode, who have been instrumental in organizing the market, expressed their enthusiasm for the potential it brings. “Our goal is to make Main Street a hub of activity once again,” said Haase.

A notable emphasis has been placed on ensuring the market complements rather than competes with existing downtown businesses. “We’re focusing solely on true farmers market products and not crafts or ready-to-eat meals from vendors,” Wintrode explained. “This way, we encourage visitors to explore Main Street’s shops and restaurants, further supporting our local economy.”

The market is set to feature diverse vendors, including Saffelle Cattle Co., which offers local meats, Blooming Wild with fresh cut flowers, Happy Creek Cheese, and Robby D’s Little Greens with their microgreens. Additional vendors like Rock Ridge Homestead, Oak + Ollie with freshly made sourdough items, Hawksbill Mountain Mushrooms, CandyStone Caverns, and Petty Betty Treats will also provide a wide range of farm-to-table options.

Ellen Aders, DFRi board president, highlighted the market’s role in the community, stating, “We want everyone in Warren County to appreciate our downtown as much as we do, and a farmers market is a perfect way to draw people in.”

The Downtown Front Royal Farmers Market aims to be a place where locals can fulfill their grocery needs and a social venue where they can enjoy the community spirit every second and fourth Sunday. With plans to expand vendor participation and continuously enhance the shopping experience, Front Royal’s Farm to Market on Main is poised to become a beloved weekend tradition.

Melodies on Main: Community Cheers as Money Pit Recording Studio Opens Doors

Published

on

The Front Royal/Warren County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Bob Wilson and the Money Pit Recording Studio to the community in an April 24, 2024, ribbon-cutting ceremony. This marked a significant milestone in the local music scene with the grand opening of the Money Pit Recording Studio. The event was a festive gathering of community members, music enthusiasts, and industry professionals to support Bob Wilson, the studio’s founder. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a celebration of new beginnings and a nod to the vibrant potential the studio brings to the area.

Bob, a seasoned musician and producer, shared his journey from playing bass and fiddle in various bands to setting up his recording studio. The studio, aptly named ‘Money Pit’ as a playful nod to the financial whirlwinds often associated with musical pursuits, promises to be a haven for local talent and musicians from various genres. Bob’s story is one of passion fueled by decades of experience in the music industry, leading him to establish his own space where creativity meets technology finally.

During the ceremony, attendees were treated to a tour of the facility. Bob detailed a nine-month labor of love focused on creating a comfortable, high-quality recording environment. The studio boasts a blend of analog and digital technologies, adhering to Bob’s vision of offering a distinctive and efficient recording experience.

Money Pit Recording Studio is set up to cater to diverse musical styles and artists. Bob expressed his openness to working with all genres, from country to hip-hop, ensuring that every artist’s vision could be realized in his studio. His approach is hands-on, preferring the tactile feel of knobs and sliders to create the perfect sound over navigating through software menus.

The studio’s name, while humorous, underscores Bob’s commitment to providing exceptional quality without the pressure of the ticking clock that often plagues recording sessions. This philosophy will likely resonate with artists seeking a space that values perfection in their craft.

As the community left the opening event, the excitement was palpable, with many expressing eagerness to see how the Money Pit Recording Studio would evolve into a cornerstone of local music production. Bob’s journey from musician to studio owner is a powerful reminder of the music industry’s enduring spirit of creativity and dedication.

In a ceremony filled with community spirit, the Front Royal/Warren County Chamber of Commerce commemorated a significant milestone for one of its most cherished local businesses, Ledo Pizza. The event was not just a celebration of Ledo Pizza’s success but also a testament to the strength and unity of the local business community.

Niki Foster-Cales, the chamber’s Executive Director, and Byron Biggs, the Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman, enthusiastically and gracefully spearheaded the ceremony. Grace Timmerman, who has been at the helm of Ledo Pizza for five years, shared her journey from starting as a waitress in 2012 to becoming the manager and eventually owning her own location. “It’s like the American dream,” she remarked, acknowledging the support and partnership of her colleague Tony, who played a crucial role in her path to sole ownership and success.

Under Timmerman’s stewardship, Ledo Pizza has become a staple of the Front Royal community, known for its commitment to quality, community involvement, and never cutting corners—both figuratively and literally. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was lively, with a countdown leading to the symbolic snipping of the ribbon, marking a new chapter for Timmerman and Ledo Pizza.

Looking ahead, Timmerman expressed her desire to deepen community ties further, particularly with local schools and sports teams. Through sponsorships and support, she aims to give back to the community that has embraced her business so warmly.
