Front Royal Town Council Announces Board and Committee Vacancies

Published

on

The Front Royal Town Council is actively seeking civic-minded individuals to fill vacancies on two key boards – the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) and the Local Board of Building Code Appeals (LBBCA). This is an excellent opportunity for residents to contribute to the governance and development of their community.

Front Royal Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA)

The BZA has two vacancies to be filled:

  1. An unexpired term ending May 1, 2024.
  2. An unexpired term ending August 31, 2025.

This 5-member board plays a crucial role in the town’s planning and development. Responsibilities include reviewing variance requests from zoning regulations and appeals regarding decisions made by the Zoning Administrator. Meetings occur monthly, as required, and members receive a stipend for attendance.

Applicants should reside within the Front Royal Corporate Limits. Within one year of service, members are expected to complete the Certified Board of Zoning Appeals program through The Land Use Education Program (LUEP) at VCU, funded by the Town.

Local Board of Building Code Appeals (LBBCA)

The LBBCA, also a 5-member board, has one vacancy for a term ending November 1, 2027. This board meets monthly as necessary, and members receive a stipend for meeting attendance. Applicants are required to live within the Town of Front Royal Corporate Limits. Ideal candidates will have experience in construction, real estate, law, architecture, or engineering. The LBBCA’s primary function is to oversee appeals related to building regulations, ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of town residents.

Application Process

Interested individuals must submit an application along with a resume and cover letter to: Mayor & Town Council Attn: Tina L Presley, Clerk of Council 102 E. Main Street, P. O. Box 1560, Front Royal, Virginia 22630 Email: tpresley@frontroyalva.com
