Blue Ridge Housing Network Seeks Board Members to Support Regional Housing Efforts
The Blue Ridge Housing Network, Inc. (BRHN), a nonprofit dedicated to improving access to affordable housing in the Northern Shenandoah Valley, is inviting community members to join its Board of Directors.
With a mission that spans Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren counties, as well as the City of Winchester, BRHN works to identify housing gaps and provide solutions that promote safe, decent, and affordable living conditions. The organization was originally founded in 1994 as the
Warren County Housing Coalition. It expanded its reach and adopted its current name in 1999 to better serve the broader region.
BRHN is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency and partners with human service organizations, financial institutions, local governments, and private citizens. Among its most impactful programs are Homeownership Down Payment Assistance, Pre-Purchase Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, and the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program.
The organization is currently seeking new board members, including individuals to serve as Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, and general members. Ideal candidates will have experience in fields such as finance, law, real estate, social services, or community development, though anyone passionate about affordable housing is encouraged to apply.
“Board members play a key role in guiding our programs and helping us serve more families throughout the region,” said Executive Director Lorie Noakes. “We rely on the knowledge and dedication of our board to help us grow and meet the changing housing needs of our communities.”
In recent years, the need for stable, affordable housing has grown, particularly as economic shifts and rising housing costs have placed new pressures on families across the region. BRHN’s services have helped many first-time homebuyers find secure footing, and the group continues to expand its reach with community partnerships and education initiatives.
Serving on the board is a volunteer position, but one that offers a direct way to influence housing outcomes for residents. Board members attend regular meetings and help support long-term planning, grant development, and public outreach efforts.
Anyone who lives or works within BRHN’s service area and is interested in serving is encouraged to contact Lorie Noakes at lnoakes@brhn.org or 540-622-2711.
