Cleanup following two-vehicle crash closes U.S. 522 in Front Royal Friday morning

FRONT ROYAL – A two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck and a four-door passenger vehicle shut down both lanes of U.S. Route 522 in front of the Gateway Plaza shopping center around 8:15 a.m. Friday morning.

First responders on scene called for a hazmat team, after fuel was found to be leaking from the dump truck.  More details will be released later Friday, according to Front Royal police officers on scene. No details about the passengers, or injuries, were available.

Clean-up was still ongoing at 9:30 a.m., with traffic being detoured.
