Front Royal Economic Development Authority Embarks on a New Economic Journey

Published

on

The Front Royal Economic Development Authority (FREDA) has launched an ambitious initiative to spearhead economic growth and community development in the Town of Front Royal. Established in 2022, FREDA marks a fresh start aimed at harnessing new economic opportunities for the benefit of all local citizens and business owners. After a period of inactivity, the newly formed Business Development Board is eager to drive progress, focusing on expanding the tax base and innovating to meet the evolving needs of the workforce.

With a clear vision to “sustain and grow a healthy economy that provides opportunity and protects the characteristics that make Front Royal a unique community,” FREDA is poised to lead the town into a prosperous future. Their mission is to “Provide leadership necessary for Front Royal to optimize economic opportunity and community improvement,” a goal that reflects the authority’s commitment to both economic advancement and the preservation of the town’s distinctive charm.

Currently, in its formative stage, FREDA is concentrating on five critical areas: workforce development, infrastructure enhancement, new business development, support for existing businesses, and asset development. These focus areas have been chosen to address the most pressing needs of the community and to lay a solid foundation for long-term economic resilience and growth.

The Business Development Board, the driving force behind FREDA, comprises seven community leaders. These members, appointed by the Town Council of Front Royal, bring a diverse range of business experiences and perspectives to the table. This diversity is crucial for fostering a comprehensive approach to economic development and ensuring that strategies are well-rounded and inclusive of the community’s needs.

Meetings of the Business Development Board are held monthly at the Council Chambers of Town Hall, ensuring transparency and community involvement in the economic development process. Agendas and minutes of these meetings are made publicly available on the town’s website, frontroyalva.com, allowing residents to stay informed and engaged with the authority’s endeavors.

Front Royal, with its rich history dating back to 1788, is a community poised for growth. As the seat of Warren County and the gateway to some of Virginia’s most beautiful natural landscapes, including Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park, the town offers a unique blend of historical charm and natural beauty. FREDA’s initiatives promise to enhance this blend by fostering economic growth that respects and preserves the town’s unique identity while providing new opportunities for its residents and businesses.
