Mindful Monday: Time
What is time? How many rooms do you have clocks in? How many tricks do you play with time? Do you have your clock set ahead 5 minutes? Do you try to race time when you are driving in your car? Do you wish to turn back time to days you were happier? Do you want to stop time from passing so your children stay little? As an athlete do you try to beat time? Does time even exist?

There have been days I have gone in circles trying to figure out time to the point my mind just feels suspended in a black hole. I do not have the answers or the scientific mind to recite an equation to put fact to the measurement or definition. What I can offer is a fun true story that leads us to a cool idea.
On a beautiful Sunday morning, I joined a friend on a pretty drive to her home in the valley. As I took a tour of her lovely home, I noticed lots of clever decorating concepts she had applied all around. A sliding barn door to close off the living room, handmade rustic dining room table, and a repurposed can for a light fixture just to name a few that caught my eye. In the kitchen I noticed a huge clock hanging on the wall with no hands. Because there were so many other clever pieces in the home I instantly thought there were no hands on purpose! I loved the message this clock was sending! “When you are in the kitchen, don’t worry about time,” says the clock.
I later found out that the clock was broken, and she just had not had time to put the pieces back together again. However, this cool idea has been born! What a great room to have…one with no time. A place we can enjoy and just be. Can you imagine that? A room with a clock hanging with no measurement of time. Just a gentle reminder of the importance of connecting with the ones we love or to give ourselves permission to just sink into a moment of relaxation. Feels good.
