Bingo fundraiser slated May 20 to help Warren County’s most vulnerable citizens

FRONT ROYAL – A bingo fundraiser to benefit the Warren County Department of Social Services assistance fund will be held Friday, May 20 at the Front Royal Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

WCDSS Community Liaison Michelle Smeltzer says the proceeds from the fundraiser will help the agency provide assistance to Warren County’s most vulnerable citizens.  Often, help is needed with utility payments, prescriptions, or a crisis situation. It is in those situations, Smeltzer says, that her office relies on the assistance fund to help.

She noted that, “There are many occasions where there is a clear need, but unfortunately for a subset of the population they do not fall into a “covered” group where they could qualify for State or Federal funds.  The community’s support has always been tremendous towards the children of Warren County and we would like to add the seniors and other vulnerable to that group.”

The bingo fundraiser features a $15 minimum admission book.   There will also be a silent auction, with items to include a sports basket with a round of golf for two with cart; a family summer basket with pool passes; a beauty basket with hair products, a gift card for cut and more.

Anyone with questions about the event or wishing to donate items for the silent auction or door prizes is asked to call Michelle Smeltzer at 540-892-6108.

If you’re going:  Friday, May 20 at Front Royal Vol. Fire Dept.,  220 N. Commerce Ave.

Doors open at 5:00 pm.  Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m.  Bingo begins at 7:00 p.m.
