Board of Supervisors Meeting: May 21, 2019
With Supervisor Dan Murray still recuperating from his heart surgery, Vice-Chair Supervisor Tom Sayre chaired the May 21st meeting. There were several public hearings:
- Virginia Department of Transportation Secondary Six-Year Plan for FY 2020-2025 and the Construction Budget for FY 2020 – Doug Stanley/Ed Carter
- Approval for Re-Adoption of Virginia Motor Vehicle Traffic Laws Incorporated into the Warren County Code as Chapter 172, Section 172-1 – Dan Whitten
- Ordinance to Amend and Re-Ordain Section 82-4 of the Warren County Code – Doug Stanley
- Temporary Placement of “No Wake” Buoys for the Humane Society of Warren County’s Waggin’ for Dragons Fundraising Event on the Shenandoah River – Doug Stanley
- Z2019-02-01, Ordinance to Amend Chapter 180-63(H) and Add 180-63(I) of the Warren County Code (Zoning Ordinance) – Joe Petty
- Conditional Use Permit 2019-03-02, Barbara DeRaad for a Short-term Tourist Rental – Matt Wendling
The Board also went into CLOSED SESSION to address several item:
- Virginia Freedom of Information Act Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) Personnel re: Front Royal Golf Club Advisory Committee
- Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) Personnel re: Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority Board of Directors
- Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) Personnel re: Warren County Planning Director
At the public presentation time slot at the end of the meeting, several people spoke.
- James Harper. Mr. Harper felt that the BOS was being negligent in regards to the new Warren Hospital. Also concerned about the EDA and the people the Board had appointed in the past. He also mentioned the RSW Jail, Stokes Mart building, Front Royal Country Club, the airport, County insurance policies, County Sheriff’s budget and County Administrator Doug Stanley.
- Leslie Mathews announced her run to fill the South River Supervisor seat in the November election.
At the end of the meeting Vice Chairman Tom Sayre announced that four more interviews for the EDA Board of Directors are scheduled and a cutoff date of May 31, 2019 to receive applications for appointment.
