Brakes failed, tenant hits his apartment

Know as the Ford Building. Building is owned by the EDA. Photo by Mike McCool.
The building in front of the Main Street Market on Main Street, in downtown Front Royal, was hit by a truck, driven by one of the tenants of the building. The driver pulled in, hit the brakes, which failed, and plowed into the building. There was brake fluid on the ground, and the police verified that the brake pedal went to the floor, so it was a mechanical failure.
No one was hurt. The building has been evacuated in an abundance of caution until a structural inspector assesses the condition of the building.
The building is owned by the EDA. Doug Parsons, EDA Director, said, “We are working on getting things fixed there as fast as we can.”
