Middletown Maulers to Face Shiners Base Ball Club in Benefit for Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation
Dust off your lawn chairs and step back in time as vintage baseball returns to Middletown Town Park on Sunday, June 29, at 2:00 PM, with the Middletown Maulers taking the field against the Shiners Base Ball Club of Rockingham County.

Middletown Maulers
This special matchup isn’t your typical ballgame. Played according to the rules and customs of 1864, vintage base ball blends competitive spirit with living history. Players dress in period uniforms, forgo gloves, and follow the etiquette and language of the Civil War era, offering spectators a one-of-a-kind sporting experience.
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged and will benefit the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation. The foundation preserves historic sites and educates the public about the Civil War’s impact on the Shenandoah Valley.
Adding to the community atmosphere, The Southern Market will be on-site providing local food and refreshments, and Josh Kirby, host of the Kirby on Sports podcast, will lend his voice as PA announcer.
“This is a great opportunity to gather as a community, have some fun, share a few laughs, and learn the game together — all while supporting a terrific cause,” said Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh IV. “Vintage baseball is unlike anything you’ve seen before, and we’re excited to bring it back to our park.”
The event builds on the success of Middletown’s first Vintage Base Ball Festival, which drew a strong turnout earlier this year. Organizers hope to keep the tradition growing with events that blend history, entertainment, and community support.
