Samuels Library salutes local Lowe’s employees, Warren County, and a Boy Scout
In its attractive new newsletter (3rd issue) Samuels Public Library thanks employees of the local Lowe’s store at Riverton Commons for their efforts to install a new Rain Garden at the library, hoping they will “stop by when the weather warms to enjoy the new space!”
More than $2,500 worth of plants, benches, and other supplies, as well as countless volunteer hours, were acknowledged by the library, while Warren County helped by installing a picnic table area, a footpath to connect with Ressie Jeffries Elementary School, and mulch
Boy scout Caleb Mallicoat built the table4s and planted trees. The library offered a “big thanks” to Caleb and Lowe’s volunteers who included Heather Hartless, Mark Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Jeff Gray, Heather Hoisington, Mike Seal, Meaghan McCabe, Jessica Knight, and Greg Conrad.
Called “The Heroes Project,” Lowe’s makes the award “as a way for employees to give back to their communities through donations and volunteerism. The Lowe’s employees are the “heroes.”
The library news sheet also describes a memorial gift the the memory of Mishka, a therapy dog in the library’s Books & Barks program, who died last year. It is a new plum tree planted by owner Gretchen Anderson.
