Sunday stabbing in Front Royal sends one to hospital via helicopter

Front Royal Police Officers, along with support from Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies, blocked off the intersection of Cloud and Short Streets Sunday evening as they investigated a fight and stabbing that occurred near the Salvation Army.
FRONT ROYAL—An altercation between two men around 6 p.m. Sunday evening resulted in a stabbing that left one man injured and another one on the run.
The incident occurred at the corner of Cloud and Short Streets, near the Salvation Army of Front Royal, and at least a half-dozen officers could be seen walking the crime scene into the chilly autumn evening, gathering evidence and talking to witnesses.
Front Royal Police Sergeant Jason Winner, who declined to identify the two men involved in the incident, confirmed that the victim had been transported to Warren Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The patient was then transported to Winchester Medical Center (WMC) via AirCare 4, a 24-hour medical emergency evacuation helicopter based at the Front Royal-Warren County Airport, according to Shenandoah Valley Fire, which shared a video of the helicopter landing at WMC on its Facebook page.
An eyewitness, Joshua Frame, who lives on Cloud Street, said he arrived on the scene as the two men fought and saw that one of the men had been stabbed and was seriously injured. He stayed with the victim, applying pressure to his wounds and trying to calm the man, until first-responders arrived.
Sergeant Winner said more information on the case would likely be released on Monday.
