Apologizing For the Perfect Candidate That Never Was
I would like to publicly apologize to the community at large for supporting the perfect candidate that never was.
My reasons were compelling. I got a knock on my door and discussed the current issues. A subsequent interview courtesy of the NVDaily reconfirmed my beliefs. I was definitely making the correct choice in casting my vote. With words and talking points like this, could you blame me?
“What I think I can bring into the mix is to have a little more critical thinking.” (1)
“I’m really big (into) common-sense solutions that’s gonna benefit everybody.” (2)
“Sometimes decisions are made, and folks are like, Oh, why did they do this? (3)
“I’m really big into integrity and transparency and accountability.” (4)
“Big picture kinda person.” (5)
“Bring unity.” (6)
Fast forward 3 years, and I, the Fork District, and the community at large were bamboozled by a sheep in wolves’ clothing. When Supervisor Cook was finished blazing a trail of destruction on a fully functioning institution, it wasn’t enough to tear it down; she participated in drafting an Op-Ed insulting the community’s intelligence and chose to fully defund and re-distribute library funding solely due to ideological beliefs. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end. Further adding insult to the entire community, she bailed out when no further destruction could be made. On second thought, maybe this is a blessing, provided the BOS doesn’t install a puppet for a few needed votes.
Lessons learned: votes matter and have consequences.
