Warren County Earns National Award for Excellence in Budget Presentation

Published

on

Warren County has been recognized with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its exceptional work in public budgeting.

This prestigious national award, announced by the GFOA in a recent news release, honors Warren County’s commitment to the highest principles of governmental budgeting. The recognition highlights the county’s success in crafting a budget that functions as a comprehensive policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool.

To receive the award, a government entity’s budget must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and meet 14 mandatory criteria. The evaluation process ensures that the budget effectively communicates financial plans, supports operations, and engages the public with clarity and transparency.

“The award represents a significant achievement,” said the GFOA. “It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest standards in financial planning and accountability.”

Warren County joins over 1,900 participants in GFOA’s Budget Awards Program, with recipients recognized quarterly on the GFOA website. These award-winning governments are viewed as leaders in budget transparency and innovation, setting a standard for others across North America.

The Government Finance Officers Association, based in Chicago, serves more than 25,000 members throughout the U.S. and Canada. It promotes excellence in public finance through best practices, research, and professional development.
