The dead come to life Saturday: Zombie Walk starts at 6 p.m.

FRONT ROYAL – If the thought of zombies walking about the Town of Front Royal make you nervous, then plan to stay home on Saturday, Oct. 21.  That’s when scores of “walkers” are expected at the fifth-annual Front Royal Zombie Walk.

The walk begins at Bing Crosby Stadium, crosses North Commerce Avenue, then continues on Warren Avenue and Chester Street to the gazebo. Participants are encouraged to arrive as much as an hour early. The walk begins promptly at 6 p.m.

Participation in the Front Royal Zombie Walk is free, but donations can be made at the start and finish lines to the Humane Society of Warren County and the Front Royal-Warren County CCAP, walk organizer and creator Roxanne Bauserman said.

Donations can be cash, gift card for the organizations to use to purchase needed items, pet food, or non-perishable items such as canned food or toothbrushes. The event raised about $800 and about 1,000 pounds of supplies last year, Bauserman told us.

She said people are invited to come out to the event and have a great time – and to donate to good causes.

“I really want to get a lot of donations for C-CAP and the humane society,” she said.

At the gazebo destination Mark Clay and Ted Seeley will perform music. Element restaurant plans to host an after party with themed drinks and food for sale. C&C Frozen Treats will be serving their “blood” ice cream.

In an interview with the Royal Examiner, Ms. Bauserman said, “Friends this is my LAST Zombie Walk! Just in case you didn’t know, I’m retiring and passing on the torch to Royal Examiner & National Media Services. They WILL continue the Walk after this year. This will definitely be bittersweet for me since I’ve put a lot in to this Walk, but I’m satisfied with what I have done, and I am certainly PROUD of myself!”
