Front Royal Town Council Names B.J. Wilson Interim Town Manager

Published

on

The Town Council of Front Royal has appointed B.J. Wilson as Interim Town Manager, effective January 12, 2025. The decision, made during the council’s work session on January 9, follows the announced departure of current Town Manager Joseph Waltz.

Wilson, a long-serving member of the town’s administration, brings years of experience and a deep understanding of municipal operations to his new role. Starting his career with the town in 2008 as Finance Manager, Wilson has steadily risen through the ranks, earning recognition for his contributions. In 2016, he was promoted to Finance Director, where he was instrumental in modernizing and strengthening the town’s financial practices. His recent appointment as Assistant Town Manager in October 2024 positioned him as a natural choice to step into the interim role.

“I’m honored to serve the town in this capacity,” Wilson said. “I look forward to working closely with the council and community during this transitional period.”

The appointment comes as the council begins its search for a permanent Town Manager, a process they promise will be thorough and inclusive. Council members expressed their confidence in Wilson’s leadership abilities to guide the town during this critical period.

Mayor Lori Cockrell said, “Having worked with Mr. Wilson since joining Council in 2020, I have seen firsthand his dedication to the Town and its citizens. I have complete confidence that he will help provide stability for the staff, Council, as well as our citizens during this transition. I am very grateful for his willingness to serve in this role and will support him in any way possible.”

The search for a new Town Manager will include input from stakeholders and the community, ensuring the selected candidate reflects the town’s needs and aspirations.

Wilson’s appointment highlights his proven track record and ongoing commitment to the betterment of Front Royal. Residents are encouraged to stay updated as the council shares information about the search process.
