Meet Dawn Michele McCarty – children’s book author

Royal Examiner visited the Royal Oak Bookshop on South Royal Avenue, Front Royal, on April 20th, to talk with Dawn Michele McCarty. Her book is titled “Being Different Rocks!” It’s about Mickie the dog, who might be a little different than other dogs, but that’s okay because being different rocks!

Dawn says she wrote “Being Different Rocks!” to share the story of Mickie, a dog she adopted from Virginia German Shepherd Rescue. Mickie had a medical condition which made him walk on his palms instead of his toes. Her hope is that Mickie’s story resonates with kids, and they can embrace their difference and positively rock it.
