UPDATE: Severe Flooding in Waterlick: Major Road Closures – Road Open
Heavy rainfall led to severe flooding in the Waterlick area, causing significant disruptions and road closures. Around 4-5 inches of rain fell in just one hour, inundating the 6,000 block of Strasburg Road. The downpour overwhelmed the area, leading to substantial water buildup on the roadway.

As a result, the road has been closed indefinitely while emergency crews and operations personnel work to manage the situation. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) coordinate efforts to control traffic and ensure public safety. VDOT officials are en route to place signs and barriers, alerting motorists to the hazards.
Motorists are advised to use extreme caution while traveling in the area, particularly on Route 55W near the Shenandoah/Warren line, where flooding is most severe. Travelers should know that conditions can change rapidly following the afternoon thunderstorms that have battered the region.
Officials are urging residents and commuters to seek alternative routes and stay updated on the situation. They have pledged to provide updates as soon as the roadway can be safely reopened.
