UPDATE: Portsmouth detectives have located 1 ½ year-old Messiah Jarvis and 5-year-old Dominique Jarvis safe and unharmed. They say the mother, 24-year-old Asia Jarvis, dropped them off at a relative’s home early Saturday morning. Jarvis is not in custody and is being sought by authorities.
PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Virginia State Police announced the issue of an AMBER Alert (America’s Missing Broadcast Emergency Response Alert) Friday evening after a five-year-old boy and his 18-month-old brother were reportedly abducted by their birth mother in Portsmouth, VA.
Mother reportedly threatened to shoot kidnapped children
Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department Special Victims Unit say 5-year-old Dominique Jarvis and 1 ½ year-old Messiah Jarvis were last seen at a home in the 1100 block of Carrington Crescent by their father Friday morning. The father, who has custody of the children, then received a message from the mother that alarmed him and led him to contact police. Detectives say they believe that the children will continue to remain in immediate danger as long as they are with the mother, Asia Jarvis. She reportedly threatened to shoot the children, officials say.
Asia Jarvis is a 24-year-old black female who stands approximately 5’8” tall and weighs 215 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Asia Jarvis was last seen wearing a blue night robe, green tights and an oversized shirt. Asia currently has two active warrants on file for felony abduction.
Dominique Jarvis is a 5-year-old black male with brown hair and brown eyes. Dominique was last seen wearing a blue and red shirt and pajama pants. Messiah Jarvis is a 1 ½ year-old black male who has brown hair and brown eyes. Messiah was last seen wearing yellow and black pants and a white t-shirt.
Asia Jarvis may be driving a black Patriot Jeep, though the license plate number is unknown.
