Footprints Through Time: 10,000 Years in the Valley

November 22, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

River Bend Discovery Center

Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month with us!

Did you know the Shenandoah Valley has been home to people for over 10,000 years? Join our park ranger for a fascinating one-hour presentation exploring the deep and enduring Native American history of our park and the Shenandoah Valley.

After the presentation, stick around for Prehistoric Precision at 2:30 p.m., where you’ll get hands-on experience using an atlatl—an ancient spear-throwing tool used by early peoples.

This program is open to all ages, though it may be best enjoyed by those 8 and up.

For more information, please email Samantha House at samantha.house@dcr.virginia.gov or call (540) 622-2262.

Parks are for everyone. Please let us know if you need special accommodations.
