Norman Herald “Norm” Beckwith (1936 – 2026)
Norman Herald “Norm” Beckwith, 89, of Woodstock, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Norman Herald “Norm” Beckwith
Mr. Beckwith was born on June 15, 1936, in Washington, DC, to the late Everett and Fay Derbyshire Beckwith.
He grew up in Arlington and Fairfax, VA. He was a part-owner of a sporting goods store in Arlington for many years. Life-long Redskins fan. He moved to Florida with his wife, bought a trophy shop, and returned to Virginia in his final year. After he sold the trophy business, he worked at the local golf course for 17 years. Some of his favorite things were time spent with family, golfing, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay on the Stormin’ Norman. He loved spending time at Disney World, family vacations in Nags Head, NC, and Ocean City, MD. He never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend by the end of the conversation.
As a veteran, he was proud of his time in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gail Purcell Beckwith; sons, Keith Beckwith (Theresa), Christopher Beckwith, and Michael (Tiny) McCarthy; daughter, Susan Beckwith Pierce; Louise McDonald; and Bonnie Shackleford.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2 PM at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia. The family will receive guests at home after the service.
