Barbara Hood Propst (1947 – 2025)

Barbara Hood Propst, 78, of Front Royal, Virginia, and formerly of Gainesville, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Front Royal.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in January at Strasburg United Methodist Church.

Barbara was born on November 9, 1947, in Front Royal, Virginia, the daughter of the late William W. Hood and Juanita Hood Orndorff.

She worked most of her life in retail, working for Leggett’s and retiring from Kohl’s as a store manager.

Her family and many friends will greatly miss her.

Surviving are a son, Brandon Propst, of Gainesville; a daughter, Brittany Toelle and husband, Brandon, of Gainesville; one sister, Lana Bennett Sours, of Luray; one brother, Richard Stanley Hood, of Leesburg; one half-sister, Darlene Orndorff Moye, of Georgia; and two beloved grandchildren, Peyton Toelle and Maddox Toelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Hood Rush
