GO VOTE: Because Complaining Alone Isn’t a Good Strategy
Well, folks, it’s midterm election season. And if you live in Warren County, voting matters. Even if you don’t particularly like the candidates, or the campaigns.. this is your circus and these are your monkeys.
We complain about government spending, traffic, taxes, and the direction of our community. We have opinions about who is doing a good job and who couldn’t organize a two-car parade. And that’s fine. Complaining sometimes gets the thought out there.
But at some point, we need to do more than shake our heads, share a meme, and announce that somebody ought to do something. That somebody should be you. At the voting booth.
Voting doesn’t mean you have to love a candidate. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with every position, join a political party, or paint a giant sign on your barn roof. It means you take a little time to look at the candidates, their records, their plans, and the issues that matter to you. Then you make your own decision.
And if none of the choices makes you want to throw confetti, welcome to the real world. We don’t all agree on what Warren County should look like in five, ten, or twenty years. We disagree about development, spending, growth, and just about everything else that can turn a perfectly pleasant community meeting into a three-hour endurance event.
But we do have something in common: We all have to live with the decisions that get made. Don’t let someone else make those decisions for you.
Go vote, Warren County. Your community is worth the trouble.
