Hang 10 Rides the Wave of Clean Cars and Community Kindness
On a crisp Thursday morning, local officials, business leaders, and community members gathered at the newest business to open its doors in Front Royal: Hang 10 Car Wash. With balloons flying, scissors in hand, and a ribbon waiting to be cut, the town welcomed the fourth location of this growing car wash company with excitement—and a strong cup of coffee.
“This is more than just a business opening,” said Byron Biggs, president of the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce. “This is a company that’s clearly invested in our community.”
Hang 10 Car Wash, located on North Royal Avenue, began operations last week. To celebrate its arrival, the business is offering free car washes through April 30, a promotion designed to encourage new customers to try it out and experience its fast, friendly service.
Michael Martin, Marketing Director of Hang 10, says the focus is on three key things: people, price, and product. “We’re open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” Martin said. “And everyone here is treated like a guest. That’s what sets us apart.”
With 17 full-time employees starting at $17 an hour and receiving full benefits, Hang 10 is also boosting the local economy and raising the bar for worker support in the service industry. Front Royal Councilman Glenn Wood, applauded the business for its commitment to both quality employment and environmental responsibility. “They’ve done a tremendous job with the landscaping, and they’re hiring right here in town,” Wood said. “This is a business that’s not only filling a need but doing it the right way.” Jose Pilar manages the Front Royal location.
In addition to its eye-catching colors and inviting layout, Hang 10 stands out with its fully automated system that scans license plates for members, allowing for quick and easy service. Members can wash their cars as often as they want, with two monthly plans—$15 for the Lil’ Kuhuna plan which gives you unlimited basic wash and sry at one location, or the $25 for Big Kuhuna, which gives you unlimited premium washes at any location, plus some extra perks. That includes name-brand products like Rain-X, Armor All, and Blue Coral.
For those looking for more than just a quick shine, Hang 10 includes a self-serve vacuum and detailing area, and even offers towel exchange for members. “We even wipe down the backs of vehicles—because tunnel washes often miss those rear wipers,” Martin explained. “It’s the little things that count.”
But what really sets this business apart is its community-first mindset. Ashley Farley, the Partnership Lead, helps lead community engagement at Hang 10, described their fundraising program that partners with local nonprofits. “We give $12.50 from every $25 car wash sold by a fundraising group back to them,” she said. “That adds up fast and makes a real difference.”
They also offer free washes to local law enforcement vehicles, a gesture that’s already building goodwill among first responders. And with a dog wash on-site, it’s no surprise that Hang 10 kicked off its grand opening by donating $1,000 to the Humane Society of Warren County.
While this is their first location in a more neighborhood-style location, Martin says the setup works well. “It’s easy to get in and out, and you can’t miss us with the colors and signage,” he said. “We’ve found that people appreciate something that’s clean, efficient, and community-minded.”
Hang 10 Car Wash launched its first site in Winchester just over a year ago, with additional location in Harrisonburg. This Front Royal spot marks a continued expansion, with more plans to come.
“We’re not just here to wash cars,” Martin said. “We’re here to build something in this community—for the long haul.”
