Front Royal – The Warren County Educational Endowment (WCEE) will hold its 23rd Annual Golf Tournament on May 10th at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.  The event will start off with lunch catered by the Apple House at 11:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.  Sponsorships are available for Hole ($100), Supporter ($250), Bronze ($500), Silver ($750) and Gold ($1,000 – Includes a team) levels.  The cost to enter a team is $300.

Since 1994, the Endowment has been able to grow the corpus or principal of the endowment to over $800,000.  Given the troubling economic times of the last five years, this has been no small feat.  The corpus of the endowment is invested and the income is used to directly assist in promoting creative efforts to foster educational excellence for the children of Warren County.  The endowment has given 120 grants totaling $412,838.68 over the past seventeen years.  The goal of the WCEE Board is to raise the total corpus to $1 million which would generate $50,000+ per year in grants to support public education in Warren County.

WCEE believes that sometimes it takes private support of public efforts to incubate an idea or approach that: helps students compete in a global marketplace, instills passion for life-long learning, and sparks a vision to stretch for success.  Programs funded by the Endowment are sponsored by our school system and are consistent with its mission and direction.  They are intended to initiate sustained improvement in the fundamental capability of the school system and enhance the attractiveness of the community through the promotion of educational excellence.

Golf Committee Chairman and Endowment President Doug Stanley stated, “The Annual Golf Tournament is our largest fundraiser of the year.  We need the community’s support to make it a successful event.  Whether you play golf or not, you can help us help the school system on its Trek-To-Excellence by supporting the tournament.  The Annual Golf Tournament is a great event at a great venue.  Come join us at Shenandoah Valley and support a great cause.”

Persons interested in participating in the golf tournament or supporting the Endowment can contact the Endowment at wceducationalendowment.org or by contacting Connie Oden at (540) 636-9171.
