Francoise “Fran” Marie Powers, born February 17, 1934, in LaRochelle, France, and a resident of Louisa, VA, passed peacefully on October 3, 2024, after 90 years of a fulfilled life at the Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, VA.

Francoise “Fran” Marie Powers

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Butch” Francis Powers of Front Royal, VA; father, Joseph Etchegoyhen of Barcus, France; mother, Marcelle Charlotte (Devigon) Etchegoyhen of Limoges, France; and daughter, Diana Robbins of Rome NY.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Longmire (Carl) of Front Royal, VA, Patricia Everly (Ken) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Christina Kingrea (Walter Harris) of Louisa, VA; stepson, Alex Raymond Robbins III of Brazil; and stepdaughter Cynthia Ann Weeks of Winchester, VA.

Fran’s most special moments were when the family gathered for the holidays with her six grandchildren: Amy Bucher of Lawrenceburg, KY; Marcy Marshall of Madison, VA; James Longmire of Delaplane, VA; Joey Longmire of Front Royal, VA; Brandy Anderson of Colonial Beach, VA, and Mandy Melody of Kwajalein Island; 13 great-grandchildren, Camden Marshall, Alayna Marshall, Hunter Marshall, Jacob Bucher, Emma Bucher, Taylor Longmire, Jaden Longmire, Kaelie Anderson, Shelby Anderson, Nathan Melody, Michael Melody, Rachel Melody, and JP Melody; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ady Platt and Aubrey Platt.

Fran’s favorite pastimes were gardening, baking, knitting, and spending time with friends and, of course, her cat, FEFE. You would always find Fran early in the morning tending to her flowers. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and talking about her world travels. She always had many stories to tell and shared her experiences through her journey of life. She loved working as a hostess at many hotel restaurants and meeting people.

Fran will be dearly missed by her family and all the friends she made. She was a deeply caring and kind-hearted person who always wanted to help people, including strangers she met on the street.

Mom, you are in a better and peaceful time now.  We will always love and miss you.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

The family kindly requests that any contributions in honor of Fran be made to the Humane Society of Warren County.
