The 230th Birthday of the Constitution September 17th
Celebration is at Mt. Hebron Cemetery
Saturday, September 16, 2017 at High Noon
A program of thanksgiving for the Constitution of the United States will be offered at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Specific location is at General Daniel Morgan National Cemetery at the monuments dedicated to the US Armed Forces.
The public is invited and attendance is free. This will be an exciting, “living history” event! Students and their parents are encouraged to attend. A patriotic program is planned with the presentation of the colors by the Boys Scouts of Strasburg. A flag procession will be by Heritage Girls from West Virginia. Prayers for our country and personnel who serve will be given by area pastors. Mark Quimby, Army Retired and West Point Graduate, will speak on the “Creation of the Constitution.” A copy of his presentation will be available to attendees.
Dale Carpenter, Bob Gault, the Rev. Dr. Raleigh Watson, William Lease, Billy Williams, Collette Gault, Rev. Jim Simmons and the Rt. Rev. Larry Johnson (Liberty Man), and others, will share the stage along with numbers of area pastors, and veterans. Descendants of the soldiers, who fought in the Revolution, will participate.
Master of Ceremonies is Alan Morrison, a popular pastor in the Shenandoah Valley. Following the close of the program Liberty Man portrayed by historian and Pastor Dr. Larry Johnson, a descendant of an American Revolutionary Soldier, will answer questions especially for area youth about his great(x4) grandfather, Abel Johnston. He will be dressed as a Revolutionary Militia Soldier. All are encouraged to bring their cameras.
Hundreds of Soldiers, Marines, and Sailors who fought in all our wars for our Constitution are buried at Mt. Hebron. This is your opportunity to honor them with your presence.
The Shenandoah Christian Alliance is the chief sponsor of this event. For more information contact: Larry Johnson at 540.635.5521 or at 540.454.4129.
