Hugh Henry and Tony Carter Secure Seats in Fork and Happy Creek Supervisor Races

Voters have made their choices in two closely watched Board of Supervisors races, finalizing the leadership for the Fork and Happy Creek districts.

In the Fork District with no opponent on the ballot or declared as a write-in opponent, Hugh B. Henry won overwhelmingly, earning 94.98% of the vote with 2,628 ballots cast in his favor. Write-in candidates received 139 votes, or 5.02%.

Henry had been appointed earlier this year to fill the seat vacated after former Supervisor Vicky Cook’s resignation. With this election, he will now continue in the role and officially begin his elected term in January 2026.

The result shows strong voter support for Henry’s leadership as he prepares to serve a full term representing the Fork District after a stint on the County Planning Commission.

Meanwhile, the Happy Creek District saw a much tighter race with two opponents on the ballot. Tony F. Carter regained his seat with 54.16% of the vote, receiving 1,868 votes and a 342 vote margin of victory. Challenger Bryan Scott Turnmeyer followed with 1,526 votes, or 44.24%. An additional 55 votes, 1.59% were cast for write-in candidates.

Carter’s election shows continued confidence from voters in his previous work on the Board of Supervisors, though Turnmeyer’s strong challenge reflected a divided electorate. Earlier Precinct numbers showed Turnmeyer clinging to an 18-vote lead, 986 to 968.

The Board of Supervisors is responsible for key decisions affecting roads, schools, emergency services, and development in Warren County. The new board members will begin or continue their roles as the county heads into a new year of local planning and policy-making.

State election results will be posted after all precincts have reported.
