Citizen group gathers signatures for petition to out Board of Supervisors

Just prior to the October 9th Warren County Planning Commission meeting the Front Royal/Warren County Citizen Alliance gathered outside the Government Center in an attempt to gather signatures for a petition to be filed to remove the Board of Supervisors.

The group has hired Attorney Timothy Johnson to file the petition in the Circuit Court of Warren County once the required number of signatures are gathered.

Bonnie Gabbert, representing the North River District says she is confident the petition will be filed soon. They have collected 527 signatures out of 820 (includes 125 extra for errors). Here’s the numbers by district:

Happy Creek: need-206 collected -177 balance – 29
North River: need-133 collected – 60 balance – 73
South River: need-135 collected – 84 balance – 51
Fork: need-179 collected – 79 balance – 100
Shenandoah: need- 67 collected -127 balance – 40

The group will have a signing location set up next to the old Food Lion store on Route 55 on Monday Oct. 14th from 4-7 PM.  This is in the Gateway Plaza shopping center with Big Lots and CVS.
