Burwell-Morgan Mill to Host Restoration Celebration August 15
One of Clarke County’s most treasured landmarks will be the center of community celebration on Friday, Aug. 15, when the Burwell-Morgan Mill welcomes guests for an evening of history, craft, and camaraderie.
From 6 to 8 p.m., visitors can tour the 18th-century gristmill, explore the newly restored historic dam, and enjoy spirits crafted with grains milled on site, paired with appetizers from local culinary artists. Costumed craftspeople — including a weaver, seamstress, and woodturners — will offer live demonstrations, bringing the Mill’s story to life.
The event marks the completion of a restoration project for the Mill’s dam, made possible by an appropriation from the Virginia General Assembly. Organizers say the project safeguards a vital piece of local heritage and ensures the Mill can continue operating as a living museum for future generations.
Admission is free, and all are welcome. While RSVPs are not required, organizers encourage attendees to email info@deloresfordelegate.com to help with planning.
The Burwell-Morgan Mill is located at 15 Tannery Lane in Millwood.
