Residents attending the South River District community forum at Skyline High School on March 15 had the opportunity to learn about upcoming elections and voting deadlines from Matthew Reisinger, Warren County’s Director of Elections and General Registrar, who attended the event to provide information about early voting and the county’s election schedule.

Reisinger spoke with residents about the April 21 special election, which will ask voters to consider a proposed constitutional amendment.

Matthew Reisinger, Warren County’s Director of Elections and General Registrar, speaks with residents about early voting and upcoming election deadlines during the South River District community forum at Skyline High School on March 15.

Early voting for the special election began on March 6 and is taking place at the Warren County Office of Elections and Voter Registration, located at 465 W. 15th Street, Suite 800, in Front Royal. In-person early voting is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Two early voting opportunities on Saturdays are scheduled for April 11 and April 18, giving residents additional opportunities to cast ballots ahead of Election Day.

Residents who want to vote in the special election must be registered by April 14, which is also the deadline to update an existing voter registration. The final day for in-person absentee voting is April 18 at 5 p.m., while absentee ballots by mail remain another option for voters who cannot vote in person.

Reisinger said early participation has already been strong. In the first several days of early voting, more than 1,000 voters had already cast ballots in person at the registrar’s office, with additional ballots arriving through the mail.

In addition to the special election, Reisinger also outlined several upcoming elections scheduled in Warren County over the next few years.

A primary election will take place on August 4, with early voting beginning on June 19. Voters will also have Saturday voting opportunities on July 25 and August 1, and the deadline to request an absentee ballot will be July 24.

The general election on November 3 will include several major races. Voters will choose representatives for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, as well as local races for Front Royal mayor and three town council seats.

Early voting for the November election begins September 18, and the deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 23.

Looking ahead to 2027, voters will also elect several local offices, including members of the Warren County Board of Supervisors and School Board for the North River, South River, and Happy Creek districts, along with constitutional offices such as Commissioner of Revenue, Sheriff, and Treasurer. Soil and Water Conservation District directors will also appear on that ballot.

The 2028 election cycle will include the presidential election, as well as contests for U.S. Senate and additional town elections in Front Royal.

Reisinger encouraged residents to stay informed about election dates and deadlines and to participate in the voting process whenever possible.

The Warren County Office of Elections and Voter Registration can assist residents with voter registration, absentee ballots, and other election information. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and residents can also find additional information through the Virginia Department of Elections website.

The South River community forum provided residents with an opportunity to ask questions directly and connect with local officials, while also learning about the elections and civic responsibilities that will shape the community in the coming years.
