Cline Accepts Three Debate Invitations in Sixth District Race

U.S. Rep. Ben Cline, the Republican nominee seeking reelection in Virginia’s 6th Congressional District, says he has accepted three invitations to debate his Democratic opponent during the 2026 campaign.

The events are scheduled in Frederick County, Salem, and Harrisonburg between early September and early October.

“I appreciate these opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue with voters about the issues that matter most in their daily lives,” Cline said in announcing the debate appearances.

Cline, who was first elected to Congress in 2018, said he plans to use the debates to discuss his record and priorities for the district.

“Since my election in 2018, I have fought in Congress for the citizens of the Sixth District to defend their constitutional rights, advance their economic security, and keep their communities safe,” Cline said. “I will continue to stand up for our shared conservative values and make sure the voices of the Sixth District are heard in Washington.”

The first scheduled event will be hosted by the Small Business Freedom Alliance on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at West Oaks Farmers Market in Frederick County.

The Salem Rotary Club will host another debate on Thursday, Sept. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. in the City of Salem.

A third event is scheduled with the Harrisonburg Rotary Club on Monday, Oct. 5, from noon to 1 p.m. in the City of Harrisonburg.

Cline said he looks forward to making his case to voters during the debates.

“I look forward to making that case to voters and advancing solutions that will continue American greatness for another 250 years,” he said.

The announcement did not include additional details about debate formats, moderators, ticketing, or public access.
