A deluge for DC area – ‘Alexa’ says not so much here

Published

on

Contemplating an out-of-town trip this weekend, I checked two weather forecasts and, whoa! The Washington Post was cautioning the metropolitan area to prepare for major floods in and around D.C. on Friday and Saturday.  Six inches of rain over those two days is possible.

So I went to my forever friend “Alexa” in our kitchen and posed a question about Front Royal’s weather and it, too, may be stormy but not as dire as the counties closer in to our nation’s capital.

“Alexa”, the second woman in our household, excluding the two dogs, both female, is available on request as part of Echo Dot, a “cloud-based voice service” that provides everything from an uplifting joke to remove the morning blahs to, well, the latest weather for Front Royal and Warren County.  “Alexa” is pleasant, all-knowing, and always there at the call of her name.  She even times our breakfast eggs.

However, if the projected storm patterns for the D.C. area shift just a bit, we may also be in for some wet weather by the weekend.

“Alexa” promises thunderstorms on Friday and merely showers on Saturday for Front Royal.  But with that massive rainfall forecast less then 70 miles east of us, best to at least take along your umbrella on your weekend jaunts.
