Front Royal Women’s Resource Center Dare to Dream program accepting applicants

FRONT ROYAL – Applications are being accepted for the Front Royal Women’s Resource Center’s (FRWRC) “Dare to Dream” program which since 1999 has awarded $95,000 to 138 enterprising Warren County women in grants since 1999.

Cash awards up to $1,000, will be given at a Spring ceremonial luncheon in March.

Said Melanie Mullinax, FRWRC spokesperson: “If you have a dream or know someone in your life who has a dream and needs a financial boost to make it happen, this is your opportunity.”

Last year, five of the seven grants awarded went to single mothers, including the Elaine Bromfield Memorial Scholarship. The $1,000 award went to Julie Carter, mother of two, who works full time while pursuing an associate degree at community college. Her aim is to become an advocate for troubled youth and economically challenged families.

The FRWRC announcement suggests a variety of targets for young women short on finances but high on making a better life: take classes, start a business, purchase a computer, learn a new skill, train for a profession, start a non-profit – “anything you can dream.”

“Dare to Dream” grants are available to women living in Warren County, ages 18 and older, not currently enrolled in high school. Application deadline is Jan. 12, 2018. Application forms are available at Samuels Public Library and FRWRC, 27 Cloud Street, Front Royal. Or visit :FRWRC website or call (540) 636-7007, email wrc@frwrc.org.
