    How do you spell boon-doggle?

Reminds me of the time in the early and mid 1980’s, when I lived in Albuquerque, NM. Our Governor, Tony Anaya, went to Japan to learn all about the “bullet-train” which he envisioned as a good idea for New Mexico. He thought that it might be a viable use of $2 B or so of taxpayers’ money to connect Albuquerque and Santa Fe (about 65 miles). Of course, nothing ever came of it (thankfully), but he and his wife had an enjoyable trip.
