It’s Time for Representation That Actually Represents

Published

on

Good or bad, right or wrong, left or right – we all make choices, we take sides.

We choose what news to believe, who to blame on Facebook, and whether pineapple belongs on pizza. (It does..)

Every day, we convince ourselves we’re choosing “good over evil.”

But are we, really? Or are we just choosing “meh, whatever’s easiest”?

Let’s be honest – we humans are deeply committed to the path of least resistance.

Why think for yourself when you can just nod, scroll, and let someone else do the heavy lifting?
Decision fatigue is real, and if you’ve ever tried to pick a Netflix show after 9 p.m., you know exactly what I mean.

The thing is, doing the right thing isn’t usually fun or glamorous. It’s not slow clapping and inspirational music. It’s awkward silences, blank stares, and the soul-crushing sound of a motion being tabled until next meeting.

Are you willing to speak up when it’s uncomfortable? Are you willing to keep showing up even when they roll their eyes at you for the fifth meeting in a row?

Our current majority board of supervisors? Let’s just say they’re less “open to new ideas” and more “locked in an escape room made entirely of their own opinions.”

Instead of dialogue, we get dismissals. Instead of progress, we get shrugs and mutterings about IQ levels of regular members of this county. Meanwhile, passionate, thoughtful community members go home and scream into throw pillows.

But here’s the thing:  Good decisions take time. And planning. And input from all sides. Pushing through decisions that affect an Entire County without planning isn’t leadership – it’s failure.

And they’re not just failing just themselves. They’re failing all of us. Those who care. Those who voted. Even those who didn’t, because choosing to be silent is still a choice, and choosing to let things stay broken is, well… choosing broken.

So no, this isn’t just about taking sides. It’s about having a spine. It’s about looking to the future realistically.

Pick your path. Speak your mind. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll finally get representation that truly represents us.
