Local musician Dewey Vaughan: Rock & Roll forever

Published

on

Local musician Dewey Vaughan along with his niece Reno Vaughan, joined our publisher Mike McCool in the Royal Examiner’s studio recently and talked about the new band – After Shock, formerly know as The Shockers.

Dewey along with brother James have been playing music it seems forever here in Front Royal.

After Shock consists of Reno Vaughan, Dewey Vaughan, James Vaughan, Doug Hess, Dean Smith, and Len Barnhart.

Taken from their Facebook page, meet the band:

Reno Vaughan — This will be Reno’s debut as a member of a band. Until this year, she had sit in and sang with “The Shockers” many times, beginning in 2014. She brings big vocals and a female touch to the previously all-male band, but loves to kick it with the guys.

Dewey Vaughan — The Man, The Myth, The Legend, The “King”. Dewey’s been entertaining the town of Front Royal and beyond with his powerful vocals and crude humor since the early 80’s.

Lenny Barnhart — Lenny is a self-taught pianist, singer/songwriter, and the only lefty in the band. He’s hard at work, on and off the stage. Say hello to the pianist (among other things) of AfterShock.

Dean Smith — Dean’s been keeping people on beat since the 1970’s. You can find him spending time with family, pluckin’ the bass, and watching NASCAR.

Doug Hess — After getting his first guitar at the age of 10, Doug has brought the fun and entertainment to all who’ve seen him play. He exudes his genuine, lifelong love of music every time he performs. You can’t help but smile watching this guy play!

James Vaughan — since 1984, James has played many different instruments in many different bands, making himself the “go-to man” on the music scene. James is a Front Royal native who loves a good laugh, loud rock and roll, and an ice cold beer.
