Out of Special Meeting Closed Session WC EDA Anounces Pending Seizure of McDonald Home Property

As part of “New Business” out of Closed/Executive Session at its Special Meeting of Tuesday, February 6, the now County-overseen Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority Board of Directors announced that they would be taking ownership of the 158 Faith Way home property of former FR-WC EDA Executive Director Jennifer McDonald and her husband Samuel North the following day.

As the Royal Examiner understands it, the taking of ownership of the properties is not unexpected but part of a court-ordered civil settlement agreement. Jenkins indicated that if McDonald and North still needed access to the property to remove possessions, or themselves for that matter, they would be given additional time as necessary to facilitate their orderly moving from the premises.

According to board Chairman Scott Jenkins the EDA’s intention is to contract a realtor to list the property with an assessed value of $506,700 for sale. Also to be seized for sale are three vehicles. The EDA board authorized Warren County Director of Economic Development Joe Petty to be in charge of the liquidation of those three vehicles.

As readers know McDonald is the central figure in the EDA “financial scandal” in which it is alleged that an estimated $26-million of EDA assets were misdirected to the personal benefit of McDonald and others alleged to be involved in the circa 2014-2018 financial scandal during which time she was executive director of the FR-WC EDA. As previously reported, McDonald’s scheduled February 12 sentencing on 30 criminal convictions in Harrisonburg federal court related to the financial scandal has been delayed to an as-yet undetermined date.
