Raymond Gilbert Carter Jr., 89, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Panorama Memorial Gardens with Sammy Campbell officiating.
Mr. Carter was born February 11, 1935, in Buena Vista, Virginia, son of the late Raymond Gilbert Carter Sr. and Ruby Clifton Carter-Sheltman.
Ray loved playing his guitar, especially gospel music.
He was married to the late Anna Mae Kline Carter.
Surviving are two daughters, Sylvia J. Coffey and Judy Riccitelli, both of Front Royal; three sons, Jerry W. Carter, Raymond Gilbert Carter III and Jeffrey M. Carter, all of Front Royal; brother, Robert Carter of Florida; two sisters, Lois Marchi and Joyce “Ann” Derflinger, both of Front Royal;13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Christine Hinsinger. His brother, Kenneth Carter, followed him to heaven on January 25.
