Storm Damage Closes Water Street in Front Royal
Strong storms that moved through Front Royal on Saturday afternoon left behind fallen trees, power outages, and damage to a downtown building.

A large tree fell into Happy Creek near Main and Water streets, pulling down power and cable lines. As the lines came down, they tore away part of the exterior wall of a building at the corner of Main and Water streets.
Assistant Fire Chief Gerry Maiatico said the damaged building, owned by Weber Properties, has been condemned.

Emergency crews secured the area while utility crews assessed the downed lines and worked to restore service. Yellow caution tape now surrounds the building, with debris still visible near the roadway.
A Town of Front Royal spokesperson said Water Street will remain closed until repairs are completed and the building is deemed safe.
Elsewhere in town, additional trees and utility lines were brought down by high winds during the storm.
No injuries were reported.
