There are animal adoption events this weekend – July 1-2 – at both the Julia Wagner Animal Shelter in Front Royal and the local Petco at Crooked Run Plaza.

The Humane Society of Warren County (HSWC) is participating with the pet store chain’s “Be A LifeSaver” two-day adoption event.

At the shelter, 1245 Progress Drive, fees will be waived on all adoptions (not including spay/neuter). Meanwhile, at Crooked Run, the Petco Foundation will award HSWC with adoption grants of $35 per cat, dog or rabbit, and $10 per any other type of animal if five or more animals are adopted at the Petco store over the weekend, according to shelter Executive Director Lavenda Denney.

And for those who want some companionship playing couch potato, felines can be VERY accommodating on that front.

Adopt at Petco 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  At the animal shelter, free adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
